I fear that many of you may be think that Phyllis and I bought the McCurdy and Rhodes 56 back and disappeared over the horizon.
Not so, but four factors, two good and two not good, are taking up a lot of our time:
- I have spent much of the last month installing a much improved email system. More on that in a recent email to members.
- I spent much of the holidays sweating over a hot spreadsheet building a model to calculate the tether drag tension on a person who falls overboard still attached to the boat.
- The good news is the results, while sobering, are not as bad as I feared.
- First we will publish it so you members can check I have not screwed up anywhere.
- And then, assuming it passes peer review, I will update and improve our Person Overboard Prevention and Recovery Online Book, and particularly take a look at the Backtow™ feature of the Team0 lifejackets.
- Poor Phyllis, my partner in life, business, and sailing, also known as “The Editor Who Must Be Obeyed”, has a nasty tummy bug. She is on the mend, but it will be a few days before much content gets edited.
- And now that I, Phyllis, am starting to come right, John is down with it. It’s a bad bad bug!
So given all that, the relative silence will continue for a few more days.
In the meantime, here are two list Articles that follow on well from The Big 6.
Hope you both feel better soon!
Hi Jane,
Thanks, it’s a nasty one, but I back at the desk, but only for a limited time each day.
Get well soon, both of you!
