As you can see in the above picture, it looks as if we will have a white holiday season here at AAC World Headquarters, also lovingly known as “The Hovel”.
We call the yellow addition that we built some years ago, when we moved ashore, “The Folly” because that’s what adding on to a hovel is.
Actually, after adding insulation—highly underrated—to the original cottage we are very comfortable here.
Work is rewarding and the hopper is still full of new articles and tips.
Our new boat has worked out very well, both as a day sailor…
…and as a weekend cruiser.
And as a test bed for all things AAC.
We get to spend time with family…
…and a wide circle of wonderful friends.
Which is all a long way of saying that life-after-voyaging has been good to us and we are thankful.
Also, counting our blessings, as above, is a great way to counterbalance a world that is stranger than any time I can remember.
We hope you and yours can find a way to do the same.
Happy Holidays and the very best for successful voyaging, whatever that may look like to you, in the new year.
And thanks to all of you who make AAC possible. We are looking forward to working for and with you in 2025.
Dear Phyllis, Dear John,
These earthly pictures came as a shock – so you too have a life ashore! Who would have known?
Thank you for the hard work in 2024 and for sharing so many useful tips and advice. If you could please slow down, I have a backlog of adjustments to make on KaliX! I wonder how everyone else is keeping up.
Wishing you a warm and joyful holiday season, from sunny and (relatively) warm South of France.
Take care,
JL
Hi Jean-Louse,

Merry Christmas to both of you and your family, and thank you for all you do!
John your information that you pass on always seems so relevant on accurate, thank you for all you do for us.
Hi John and Phyllis,
What a heartwarming and delightful holiday post. And thank you for the reminder to count our blessings.
Counting mine, I include the ACC community. Many thanks to you and all the thoughtful members who continue to make it such a worthwhile place to learn and participate.
Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas!
All my wishes that you and Phyllis enjoy a wonderful
Holiday and happy new year
Momentum is on the hard in Troon, Scotland eager to return to northern waters. We hope to make Iceland this season and all things permitting complete a westbound Viking journey back to Maine
All the best

Happy Holidays! Thank you for another year of excellent content. AAC is the best subscription I have. Looking forward to 2025. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your guidance! You two not only helped us to gather the knowledge and courage to sail from Toronto to Newfoundland and then NS two summers ago but also helped us navigate whom to contact in assessing our boat’s seaworthiness following our grounding in Chester, NS.
You are our indispensable resource and we value your wisdom!!
Happy New Year as we now plan to head to Huron and Superior for the summer!
Hi Edmond,
Thanks for the kind comments. Enjoy the cruise. I have never been that way but I hear that Superior particularly, is magic.
