A Christmas Gift for Our Members, New and Existing

When we announced the AAC Online Book Club 18 months ago, we knew that it was our last chance to make AAC viable in the long term. It was literally sink or swim time. And, thanks to you who joined, we are still swimming.

Having said that, we are only just keeping our heads above water. So here’s what we came up with to make joining before Christmas compelling and, at the same time, thank our existing members:

All members, new and existing, as of midnight Atlantic Standard Time on December 22, will receive a copy of our PDF eBook A Voyage North on Morgan’s Cloud (normally $9.99) absolutely free.

That’s in addition to getting access to all 24 of our Online Books (see sidebar) as well as all future books and all future editions.

All for just $19.99* a year…yes, that’s a year.

This 104-page eBook is the story in text and photographs of our 2011 science based voyage, in which we covered some 7000 miles and visited some of the most remote and wild parts of our planet including North Labrador, Baffin Island, and Greenland. One of the most wonderful, and yet deeply challenging, experiences of our lives.

The photography is stunning and the luminous nature of the light in the far north shows to excellent effect on a computer monitor…. Paul

This is the eBook for you if:

  • You have ever dreamed of sailing north, or to any remote place. We wrote most of the text while actually underway and it is rich with our joys…and yes, our fears.
  • You are interested in what is happening in the North (and we all should be).
  • You like photographs of beautiful places.
  • You want a sense for what voyaging, and particularly voyaging in remote places, is really like.

The eBook is in PDF format and can be enjoyed on any computer, iPad, iPhone, Kindle, or Android.

Meet the Author

John was born and brought up in Bermuda and started sailing as a child, racing locally and offshore before turning to cruising. He has sailed over 100,000 miles, most of it on his McCurdy & Rhodes 56, Morgan's Cloud, including eight ocean races to Bermuda, culminating in winning his class twice in the Newport Bermuda Race. He has skippered a series of voyages in the North Atlantic, the majority of which have been to the high latitudes. John has been helping others go voyaging by sharing his experience for twenty years, first in yachting magazines and, for the last 12 years, as co-editor/publisher of AAC.

I’m looking forward to enjoying this ebook over the holidays – thanks John and Phyllis! AAC is by far one of my very favourite websites. The articles and comments are so interesting and informative (a big thank you to everyone who contributes). I sure hope that your hard work will soon turn a profit – I would certainly pay more to access this resource… Best wishes and keep well! [Gabriola Island, BC]
