Don’t Worry, Be Happy, Your Email Address Is Safe

Unusually for this site, we’ve had a number of people unsubscribe from email notifications today. Now, that may just be a coincidence but, if you have or are thinking of unsubscribing from email notifications because of John’s last post, don’t. We are dealing with comment spam, not email spam.

These are two different things. Your email address has nothing to do with the comment field on the site, which is what is being attacked by these spammers.

So, don’t worry, be happy, and don’t be scared of email notifications. You’re safe!

By the way, we learned a lot from our 24-hour experimental shut down of comments. And that spurred a huge brain storm in John’s head this morning. Or maybe it was extra strong tea. Either way, we think we have a solution that will not only solve our comment spam problem, it will make this site even safer than it already is for you, our readers.

Stay tuned…

Phyllis has sailed over 40,000 offshore miles with John on their McCurdy & Rhodes 56, Morgan's Cloud, most of it in the high latitudes, and has crossed the Atlantic three times. As a woman who came to sailing as an adult, she brings a fresh perspective to cruising, which has helped her communicate what they do in an approachable way, first in yachting magazines and, for the last 12 years, as co-editor/publisher of AAC.

Do you guys have a reading list of favorite sailing novels, fiction, real life stories? I have collected a small library of sailing books, but am always on the lookout for other good ones. Enjoying your site! Thanks.

      Hi Gregg,

We have a library listing on our site (under the Resources link). These are the books that we carry onboard, so they’re mainly reference books and cook-books.

      I hope some are helpful.

      Hi Gregg,

We don’t have a list as such, but you will find quite a few book reviews in this category.

      Hi Richard,

Thanks for the support. And yes, looks like the weather is turning. Still snow on the ground, but not much.
