Over the past 20 or so years of voyaging Phyllis and I have met hundreds of people: other cruisers, professional fishermen, people in the marine trades, and others from every walk of life.
Sure, even if we were not live-aboard voyagers we would still have met people and made friends over the same period. But there is something about arriving in a place by boat knowing no one, with the always impending departure hanging over our heads, that facilitates the process of meeting people and gives it a sense of magic.
So thanks to all of you who live on the fringes of the North Atlantic and adjacent Arctic waters, old friends and new, who have made us so welcome…you are our community. We think of you often, but particularly at this time of year.
And to the thousands of readers of this web site, our extended community if you will. Thank you for your participation in this rather strange endeavor that started as a news letter for our friends and has morphed into…well, I’m not sure what. Whatever it is, publishing it gives us a lot of fun and satisfaction.
To all, may you and yours have a wonderful 2011.
Below you will find the story of our year in photographs. And for those that are interested in even more detail, under that there is a list of links to other slide shows from this year.

Happy holidays to you too and wishing you a happy new year! Love your photos and enjoy your sailing adventures! Wish we could do what you are doing but we are stuck with our work and our sail boat is also moored in the marina! Perhaps one day …… Best. Zarmina and John from Washington, DC.
Hi Phyllis & John,
Cheryl & I wish you the Best of the Season. Your 2010 images are always a great gift – Thanks.
We spent a winter at City Marina, but in a slip rather than the Mega Dock. Charleston is such a wonderful city to experience. Be sure to bone up on the City’s history, a good portion of this country’s early history was shaped by events that occurred in and around Charleston.
However, Charleston is also a very dangerous place. So much to do and good food to eat budgets and belts are apt to be strained.
We spent many afternoons walking the downtown section. Wrought Iron fences came to their peak in Charleston and the architecture just begs one to take a picture. I look forward to your images!
All the Best,
John & Cheryl

Your photos are glorious John! I’m starting to get jealous. Hey, what camera are you using?
Happy Holidays to you and our best wishes for a joyful, prosperous New Year filled with Fair Winds, Peace and Following Seas!

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the kind comments.
That reminds me, several people have asked lately what camera equipment I use. I will make a note to do a post on that.
Having said that, the week with Bob Krist has done more for my photography than any camera could.
I like your pic’s very much…keep up the good job!!! Happy New Sailing Year!! Sweden looks very much like Greenland this time of the year…where is the global warming??
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the both of you. At the moment we are in CT for the holidays awaiting the big blizzard about to come our way. Mid January it is back to Tamure which is in FL and then on over to the Bahamas. Sure wish you would be there this winter as we are remembering all the fun we had with the two of you two years ago in Green Turtle Cay.
Loved your 2010 ‘year-in-review’ slideshow, and glad your new Perkins is running well !
Happy holidays and best wishes for the new year !

Merry Christmas to You all out there. And a Happy New Sailing Year! Thanks for an incredibly important aid for surviving the winter period, the NCG Norwegian Cruising Guide)! Was a short trip in my FP Athena 38 (Catamaran) today and removed some snow from the decks. A lot of snow and cold weather, about -10 degrees Celsius… Dreaming of the coming spring/summer/fall which will be spent cruising the Norwegian coast again.
Best regards from Glenn in Molde, Norway.
Merry Christmas Phyllis & John!
Phyllis, your website and John’s photos bring your adventures to life … beautiful, magical and mesmerizing. Hope 2011 is a wonderful year for both of you … and if you ever come inland (I realize that is pretty unlikely) give me a call
love Kate
Merry Christmas and hope you have a great year to come. We really enjoy your photos. Antares is currently in Charleston at the Charleston City Boat Yard. We will be heading that way in the next week or two. Are you still there?
